Ways to cope with Judgement

I fear judgement, everyone fears it. No matter how confident we are as a person, something changes in us everytime someone passes a judgement. We gradually slip into a self pity mode and question our actions. There's no situation or world without judgement, you are as bound to get judged as you're about to pass judgement. So what do you do, how do you save yourself.

Your hair is too short, or you have a slouch, have you put on weight lately, don't you plan to marry and the list is endless. As if from the time you wake up, you're automatically put under a scanner.
For those who might be born with a certain amount of confidence or whose parents were aware enough to engrain self love are fortunate to lead judgement free lives or maybe simply they don't feel it. But what about the millions who have some insecurity and the judgement touches that soft nerve.

Here are few ways to cope with judgement, since you can't wish it away.

1. Try not to take offense. Them passing judgement has nothing to do with you. Think that god has given them that much understanding to know where you come from. They haven't been in your shoes and never will. Therefore, the best thing to do is brush it off.

2. Take what you need and discard the rest. Not every judgement is something you need to brush off, think for 2 minutes about the judgement. There is positive judgement and negative judgement, think about what works in your favor and work on it. If you feel it's too much for you to even take it in. Ignore.

3. Check the source. Someone you may trust passes a judgement may do it out of concern. But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to bow down in praise for the person doing it. You can respectfully listen, take it if you wish and refuse secretly without voicing it.

4. Its ok to be disappointed.  Did the judgement make you sad or angry? do you feel bad, then let it make you feel exactly that. You need to ignore the judgement but not your emotion. There's no need to fake happiness or understanding when you don't feel that. Sometimes being true to your emotion is the greatest coping mechanism.

So let that judgement pass you, feel it and let it go.
